LIGHTENING THE LOAD

There comes a time for each of us when we find ourselves bent low with the weight of life's burdens. Remember the childlike expectancy when you were born again and became a newborn babe in Christ? Remember how little you felt when you first saw His greatness? That was a time of unspeakable joy. Now, the enemy would rob you of that joy, but don't lose heart. You can recapture it! Take yourself back to when you first accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior...recall how totally you surrendered yourself into His loving care. Release all your fears, concerns, and anxieties into His arms and be refreshed by the simplicity that is only attained by letting Him take your every care. The Word tells us that it is God's will for you to live with joy in your heart. Romans 14:17 describes the presence of joy in our Christian walk like this: For the kingdom of God is not food and drink; but righteousness and peace and JOY in the Holy Spirit. Now, receive the grace of God which is so freely given, and with it a release from the heaviness that has kept you from the peace and joy which is your inheritance as a child of God.

PAIN TO PROMISE

James confidently said, "Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort, or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience" How is it possible to consider joy in the midst of piercing pain, physical or emotional? Often, during a time of pain, we begin to question God. Pain sorely tries our trust in His ability to turn its ugliness into anything worthy of His glory. How then can pain bring the endurance James talks about? How do we find our faith when our vision of God is so blurred by the onslaught of pain? James had the direction of God when he wrote his words. They are not mere expectations, but divine promises. Yes, the pain that you are suffering now can be a cause for joy. It is God's unfailing promise that your trials will produce endurance, strength, and ultimately your perfection. Even Jesus, in the pain of the cross, felt abandoned by His Heavenly Father. Jesus, the sacred Son of God, could have called ten thousand angels for His rescue, yet He committed Himself to His Father's will unto death. His reward was the joy of resurrection. Your promise is that same deliverance. Hold fast and receive joy in the midst of your trial, remembering that joy will turn your pain into the promise of your victory

WALLS

When we go through traumatic experiences, sometimes the only way we think we can protect ourselves from unbearable pain is to build “walls.” At one time or another we have all erected invisible mental walls that allow us to pretend things are not the way they really are and to insulate us from further hurt. It could be protection from facing the death of a loved one...the distant move of a close friend...a child leaving home for the first time to go to college or to marry and recovering from a painful divorce. All of these situations, and many others, constitute major traumatic adjustments that could easily cause us to build walls. BEAUTY FOR ASHES

A pillow soaked with tears...this pitiful picture is not something a poet dreamed up, it is what many experience, night after night. There are many things that could be grieving you. He says He has come, “...to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for morning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified” (Isaiah 61:2b, 3). Think of it: beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning. God has heard your cries. And He is telling you that no tear is ever wasted. You are the beloved Bride, the apple of His eye. What moves your heart moves His. You are coming into greater oneness with Him. What a comforting thought to fall asleep with

IT'S HIS FIGHTS

Occasionally, WE spend a terrible night pacing the floor...heart pounding, head throbbing, and blood racing through our veins. Why? Unresolved anger. Their question is, “What do I do with it at 2 o’clock in the morning? I know the Bible tells me to forsake it, but if it’s already overwhelmed me, what can I do?” If you find yourself at this point tonight, try looking at your anger from another perspective. Ask yourself, “Whose battle is this, mine or the Lord’s?” Whose job is it to deal with whoever has made you angry? To whom does vengeance, repayment or chastisement belong? In most cases, there’s only so much you can, or should do. The Lord Himself wants to take over. “...the battle is not yours, but God’s...You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD who is with you...” (II Chronicles 20:15, 17, NKJV). If something today has made you really angry, let Him fight for you. He will guide you to constructive solutions or reconciliation, but first you must be calm and get a good night’s sleep! Give Him your situation and let the anger drain out of you; experience a surge of His peace bathing your soul as you pray...

RECAPTURE THE JOY

Sometimes after a long exhausting day, were just too tired to engage in a long session of intercession, it is easy to fall into the temptation of joyless prayer. On these evenings how can we recapture the joy of communion with God before we go to sleep? I’ve found that the key is to wait on Him; just wait. Let His presence rest upon us. Instead of focusing on ourself, our needs, our weaknesses, or our desires, return to Him. Give God time to rest upon us and make Himself known to us, for as His Word says, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength” (Isaiah 30:15). Basking in His quietness may sound easy, but sometimes we may find that it’s hard. Satan may suddenly fill our mind with all sorts of distractions and cares, or we may become so sleepy, we can’t hold our head up. Whatever the enemy’s tactic, don’t let him rob us of the nighttime joy God wants to bestow on us! Gently begin to praise the Lord in your prayer language until the enemy flees and we recapture the joy of God’s presence....

AS CHRIST FORGIVE

Conflict with others is an unavoidable fact of life. We may become angry, even contemplate revenge, but we can’t afford to keep these feelings because they rob us of our peace and joy. God understands natural anger but tells us we must deal with it by forgiving so that we will not react harmfully to others or ourselves. How can we forgive, especially if we feel we are right? Why must we forgive if they “don’t deserve it?” A verse from the book of Colossians explains in part: “...bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do” (Colossians 3:13) Forgiving isn’t easy, but we know it’s possible if God tells us to do it. It becomes easier when we realize that we don’t have to feel forgiving, but must choose to forgive. When we take the verbal and physical actions in obedience to God, the feelings of forgiveness will eventually follow, with the help of the Holy Spirit. When you concentrate on Christ’s example of forgiveness you realize you can’t do less for others. The peace that replaces the torment of unforgiveness is worth any difficulty you may have in obeying God by choosing to forgive. Refuse your pride and self-will. Forget the wrong done to you and obey God now so that His peace will be ours forever.

As night falls and you prepare for sleep, does your spirit ever feel as dark as the night sky? This is the time you face man’s age-old decision: Will you allow Satan’s negative “darts” to cause you to look at the worst of the day, letting his manipulations get prime attention, or will you arm yourself, rise up and seek the positive aspects, count the blessings of the day, and choose to reach for the Light? When we choose to follow the Light of Jesus, we don His special armor, including the shield of faith to defend against Satan’s fiery darts, as mentioned in Ephesians 6:16, to safely travel past the dark spots of each day, without letting Satan trip us up. Jesus promises, I am the Light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12). When you recognize how much He cares, you needn’t sleep with your spirit feeling as dark and gloomy as your room. Choose to bask instead in spiritual light as you fix your heart to follow your Lord...Pray for me...

INNER PEACE

I call these “my thoughts for inner peace.” “The Lord is my Shepherd” emphasizes the fact that there is only ONE real Lord in my life, not “a” lord, but THE Lord – God Himself caring for me. “The Lord is my Shepherd” emphasizes how divine is the Person Who shepherds me, not just a mere human, but God with all of His perfection moving on my behalf. “The Lord is my Shepherd” reminds me of a Shepherd Who would give His life for His sheep, Who knows each by their own name, and Who would venture forth for the one who has gone astray. Such is His boundless devotion for me. It is no wonder that the Psalmist was able to declare that, Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life. As you meditate on each word in these verses for yourself, I assure you that a peace will come upon you in discovering that THE LORD truly is YOUR SHEPHERD..PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL..

I have guilt because my ex husband who is acclaimed a man of God gave all the blame to myself why my marriage do not work. He make me believed that I am only a woman and a wife and I do not deserve a respect from a husband. This guilt was in my heart for long, there was a time that I blamed myself but thank God last Sunday verse set me free on that guilt. Our verse readings last Sunday is 1 PETER 3:7 (kjv) says “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered,”. God gave instructions to husband to give honor, respect because all wives are the heirs of the grace of life. Every husband in the meeting acknowledged that he need to give full respect and honour to his wife even the wife is not perfect. After every husband’s sharing about the verse, I had a teary eye, I feel the heaviness in my heart was lift, and thank God for knowing that even I was not a perfect wife to my ex husband I was entitled to be respected. A GIFT FROM VEGAS

Guest post written by Horace Welborn Every time I go on a business trip I try to bring back something for my wife, especially since our kids are all grown up now and theyr'e not there to keep her company at home while I'm away on business. I thought I'd get her a really good present while I was there. So I asked one of my female coworkers who was on the trip with me to go with me and help pick her out a designer purse. When we were in this store I misheard her and almost bought this really bright and loud purse but then she stopped me and told me to go with a plainer leather one that she called classic. That got me thinking about my bad hearing and I looked up hearing devices on my smart phone on the way to a meeting the next day. After that I looked up hearing aid prices and decided I was going to get some when I got home as a present to my wife too. So when I got home I gave her the purse and got the hearing aids, which she both loved.

DON'T LOOK BACK

There’s a line from a poem that goes, “Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest of these: it might have been.” In a tragically poignant way, this illustrates the sorrow of a life lived chained to the past with the “might-have-beens” and the “if-onlys.” The past can’t be changed, and yet we find ourselves trying anyway. He could have said, “I used to be a mighty ruler in Israel. I might still have been a ruler if only I hadn’t met Delilah.” But Samson didn’t say this. Instead, he became my example for living in the present in spite of the past. While his enemy rejoiced that Samson was their prisoner; he decided not to live in the spotlight of his past glories, or in the glare of his past mistakes, but to live for God in the present. He asked His Father for a last anointing of strength, and achieved final victory for God that was greater than any past success. Even though he was blind he pulled the temple down with a mighty surge of power killing more of the enemies of God than he had in all the days of his life. Samson learned the hard way that the past should only be used as a bridge to the future. Tonight, put aside your yesterdays and live with God in the now of your life

FILLING THE VOID

Satan wants to get us so bogged down in “activities” that we miss golden opportunities of love and witnessing to the hungry, lonely and downtrodden. Jesus made it very clear how he views our responsibilities to those less fortunate. When you refused to help the least of these my brothers, you were refusing to help me. Rid yourself of that empty feeling tonight by confessing your lack of demonstration of true Christian love today and resolving to remedy the situation tomorrow...whether by lending a hand or a listening ear to a troubled neighbor, giving to a ministry to reach the isolated with God’s Word, or inviting a stranger to share church or family fellowship. I doubt that anyone ever feels perfect, nor should they. Only God is perfect. But, while some people have sensational singing voices, others paint beautiful pictures, and others have exceptional physical prowess. There are none of us who are without special talents and gifts. Remember, we are individually special to God. He made us just as we are. Everything we are comes from Him and He is the giver of all good things. He has given each of us special gifts or talents meant to be used for His glory. Don’t let Satan tell you tonight that your talents are meager or unimportant. Nothing being used for God’s glory is unimportant to Him. Guard well the splendid, God-given ability you received as a gift from the Holy Spirit who lives within you. Recognize and develop your God-given talents, whether they be the ability to listen well, balance a budget, witness one-on-one, write poetry, bring out the best in a child with a learning disability, or build bridges. Rest comfortably this evening, knowing that the talents God has given you are important to Him.

MY DAY AT ALLERTON PARK

Guest post by Jewel Cole I had the best time hiking last weekend. Although the day didn't start off so well. My friend Nique's car broke down so I had to wait an hour for her to come pick me up. When she arrived I set my home security alarm, locked the door, and we drove to Allerton Park. Living in a big city, chicago IL Adt Home Security is important for your home. If you have never hiked in Allerton Park in Monticello, IL you are missing out. This Park has great trails. The trails however are not the best thing about it. Allerton was once owned by a man that loved foreign art. This park features large stations of things such as an Indian with a bow in arrow. It also has a sunken garden with gargoyles posted on the sides of it. While hiking, Nique and I saw a lot of wild life especially since we got lost temporarily. (We finally found our way back though).We saw squirrels, snakes, and we even saw a few deer. We got really lucky that day since it was suppose to rain and it turned out to be a nice clear sunny day. After we had hiked for about two hours and found our way back, we got into Nique's car and drove back. Thank goodness it did not break down because I was really worried that it would. All in all it was a great afternoon.

UNLIMITED SUPPLY

There are times in the lives of all of us when we have more bills than the finances to meet those bills. Or, your budget is all figured out and along comes an emergency that you didn’t count on which throws your budget out the window. And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus . How great a promise to abandon yourself upon when financial problems overcome you! Hold up your need to God, “God, this is the bill I cannot pay. Your Word says that You will supply my every need. Show me how this need will be met.” Now, watch as God moves in your behalf. Maybe some extra work will come your way. Or, possibly someone will give you money you didn’t expect. God’s ways are endless, and His Word is true. His desire is to meet your need and be glorified in it. So ask and expect; cast your cares on Him and delight in His strength and His supply. ENTRUST IN HIM OUR NEEDS...

Are you praising God this day is over? Or asking why this day had to be the way it was? Many times we are faced with circumstances and situations in a day that we wonder what has happened to us. Had you known beforehand you might have considered taking the day off! How easy it is for us to forget that the Master is at work in our lives every day, and in all circumstances. The Word of God says in Romans 8:28: ...all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. Yes, the day is now over, but rejoice. It’s the start of a new beginning in your life. Each day is a new day with God – new challenges to face, more things to learn, but most important of all you have the opportunity to see God move in your behalf, making you strong in Him every day. Rest now in the hands of your Master. Lean into Him; press toward Him. Sleep tonight on the bosom of your Heavenly Father. For in Him there is total security. Even though you may not know what tomorrow holds, you have the blessed assurance that you know Who holds tomorrow. Remember, He will never leave you nor forsake you. Yes, those trials may seem difficult, but if you just trust in Him, He will show us that there is nothing impossible with Him. He is not slack in His promises. He has never failed His children. Fall is by far my absolute favorite time of the year. There are so many different things that I love about fall, including the new fall line up on television. I always look forward to the new shows previewing in September and always hope that I can find a show that is a hit. One of the new shows premiering this fall that I am really looking forward to watching is Mike & Molly. I've seen a few previews on the channels I get with my satellite tv deals in Georgia and even read some reviews online, and by all indications it looks as if this show may be a keeper. My biggest draw to the show is the dry, sarcastic humor that is apparent in the previews of the show. Mike & Molly shows the early stages of a relationship between a schoolteacher and a cop. It will be staring Melissa McCarthy, who is one of my favorite actresses. She had previously stared in Samantha Who and I absolutely loved her on that show. The couple meets at an Overeaters Anonymous meeting and continue their courtship. The first episode seems to show a funny, self-deprecating, dry sense of humor that I really love. Between the cast and the interesting story line and character relationships, I am hoping that this show will live up to my expectations.
