Occasionally, WE spend a terrible night pacing the floor...heart pounding, head throbbing, and blood racing through our veins. Why? Unresolved anger. Their question is, “What do I do with it at 2 o’clock in the morning? I know the Bible tells me to forsake it, but if it’s already overwhelmed me, what can I do?”
If you find yourself at this point tonight, try looking at your anger from another perspective. Ask yourself, “Whose battle is this, mine or the Lord’s?” Whose job is it to deal with whoever has made you angry? To whom does vengeance, repayment or chastisement belong?
In most cases, there’s only so much you can, or should do. The Lord Himself wants to take over. “...the battle is not yours, but God’s...You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD who is with you...” (II Chronicles 20:15, 17, NKJV).
If something today has made you really angry, let Him fight for you. He will guide you to constructive solutions or reconciliation, but first you must be calm and get a good night’s sleep!
Give Him your situation and let the anger drain out of you; experience a surge of His peace bathing your soul as you pray...
